Here’s your chance to get a taste of what it is like to be a beekeeper. And just in time for Mother's Day -- a family-friendly event that celebrates the queen bee and her hardworking sisters! Join beekeeper Dave Noble for a unique opportunity to experience the world of honey bees and beekeeping at the Columbus Garden School’s very own educational apiary. Dave will introduce you to the bees and give you a view into the life of a beekeeper. Perfect for those who are curious about bees, as well as anyone who is considering becoming a beekeeper. This event is for the general public -- bring your questions and curiosity. Calm children ages 10+ may participate if accompanied by a guardian. (Paid registration is required for ALL participants.) Class maximum is 12 students. Wear long sleeved shirt, long pants, and lace up shoes (no flip-flops). Protective veil and gloves are provided. Bring your camera and make some memories! The Columbus Garden School is located at 1350 E. Cooke Road, Columbus OH 43224. We'll meet in the parking lot. * A MINIMUM of 10 students is required to hold this event. Please register ASAP -- and invite a friend to join the class! * INSTRUCTOR: Dave Noble began his professional beekeeping career at OSU's Honey Bee Research Lab in the mid-1990’s. More recently, he spent 7 years as the staff apiarist at Stratford Ecological Center in Delaware, OH. During his tenure there, Dave developed wildly popular beekeeper training programs for both novice and veteran beekeepers. Currently, Dave operates Red Beard Bees where he continues to develop, refine, and teach his beekeeper training programs and presentations across Ohio and the nation. Dave employs a bee-centered philosophy to guide his beekeeping, bee-breeding, and educational endeavors. He believes that a better understanding of bee behavior and bee biology creates better beekeepers. “Listen to the bees and let them guide you.” -- Brother Adam
