Needle-Felted Holiday Ornament

Join us for a hands-on workshop where you can enjoy hot tea (and maybe a cookie or two) while creating a needle-felted holiday ornament consisting of two uniquely decorated mittens. The finished piece can be displayed as a seasonal decoration or given as a handmade gift. Participants will: > Learn safe and proper needle-felting techniques. > Understand how to blend and layer colors for texture. > Create wool ornaments using a felt form. > Explore creative variation and finishing techniques. All class materials will be provided. No experience needed; well-behaved kids ages 12+ are welcomed. (All participants need their own registration.) Participants will leave with a finished ornament and workshop guide consisting of safety instructions, step-by-step directions for completing the project, patterns, and resources for purchasing materials or additional learning. Materials fee $10 + class fee $25 = $35 INSTRUCTOR: Kellie Kalash is a fiber and mixed-media artist. A self-taught needle felter of eight years, her journey as a fiber artist began with a weaving class at the Tyson Cultural Arts Center in Columbus, Ohio. Her work reflects the connection between craft, art and nature blending the tradition of the fiber craft with an abstract art flair. Kellie enjoys sharing her passion of fiber arts and finds conducting hands-on, beginner-friendly workshops and demonstrations as a fun way to share her craft.
