** NOTE: This session is SOLD OUT! But you can register for the 1-3 PM class on the same day! ** Nature Journaling is a creative way to organize your observations of the natural world through sketching and writing. Through this active but mindful practice, you will increase your observations of, connections to, and questions about nature all around you. Using a sketch pad, writing utensils, and eventually colored pencils or watercolors you will create a beautiful pictorial diary of your experiences and time in nature. In this class, you will have direct instruction and guidance before you spend more time on your own to get curious and creative in your journal. At the end of the class, we will reconvene to share our journals and experiences. This class is appropriate for all skill levels. Participants will: > Increase their desire to be in quiet observation of nature > Learn a creative way to be with the natural world > Build more confidence in their ability to draw what they see > Enhance their sense of awe and wonder Class takes place at the Columbus Garden School, located on two acres of gardens and prairie filled with native plants and wildlife. Students are encouraged to explore this area for inspiration! Students bring the following MATERIALS to class: multi-media sketch pad (9x12 inches), and black pen(s). Optional: colored pencils or travel watercolor set. INSTRUCTOR: Amy Eiken is an entrepreneur, an educator, a lover of the earth, and a community builder/supporter. She owns Sackett Farm Flowers, a regenerative flower farm on land that has been in the same family for nearly 200 years. Amy is a self-taught artist who fell in love with the practice of nature journaling. She is a teacher at heart and enjoys sharing her love of nature and creative arts. She wholeheartedly believes creative endeavors are not about the destination (result) but the journey (process).
