We're pleased to offer one of the MOST COMPREHENSIVE HYDROPONICS COURSES offered in Central Ohio. Each in-person, 90-minute class takes place on THREE Saturdays: one each in June, July, and August! > Class 1: Getting Started with Hydroponics (June 21) Dive into the fascinating world of hydroponics and learn why so many growers are turning to this soil-free method! This introductory session covers different system types, how to choose the right plants, essential grow media, and fundamental nutrients. We’ll touch on water sources, lighting basics, and factors to consider when selecting the best location for your garden. To bring concepts to life, we’ll wrap up with a hands-on Kratky method demonstration to show just how simple hydroponics can be. > Class 2: Plant Diversity and Maintenance (July 26) Expand your hydroponic skills by exploring plant variety and care techniques. We’ll take a closer look at pH and electrical conductivity (EC), along with special considerations for growing fruiting and flowering plants—including spacing, pollination, and nutrient requirements. You’ll learn how to successfully grow houseplants, succulents, and microgreens through engaging demos. Finally, we’ll discuss the best practices for plant maintenance and system cleaning to keep your setup thriving long-term. > Class 3: Targeted Results and Troubleshooting (August 16) Fine-tune your hydroponic system with science-backed methods for achieving optimal results. This class will showcase ways to use supplemental nutrients for enhanced growth, while also covering common pests and diseases that might impact your plants. With practical homemade remedy recipes, you’ll leave equipped to troubleshoot and maintain a healthy, productive garden with confidence. Class fee $75 includes ALL three classes! Please check your schedule to ensure you can attend all classes, as there will be no "make-up" classes. Each class runs from 1:00-2:30 PM. Option Add-On Purchases: Kratky Jar $10 Microgreens Kit $10 INSTRUCTOR: Lori Scoby started her indoor gardening journey in 2020 after buying a small tabletop hydroponic unit. She fell in love and now has food growing in half the rooms in her house, and yes, her husband does support her addiction, especially when he gets to eat the fruit of her labors. Lori and her husband have also converted much of their front yard in Worthington into a native plant habitat, with a focus on medicinal plants, and much of their backyard into outdoor food gardens.
