Cane Berries for the Backyard (online)

Delicious raspberries and blackberries are the brambles most commonly grown in suburban backyards. Learn the basics in this fun ONLINE class and enjoy a lifetime of delicious, juicy fruit: - Choosing the best varieties for central Ohio/zones 5/6 (and why you should drop a zone) - Blackberries vs. raspberries vs. black raspberries - what's the difference? - Optimal growing conditions - Soil prep - Trellising - Fertilizing - Pest control - Pruning - when, how, and WHY - Weed control You will receive several PDF handouts before class. Students who attend our online class are welcome to attend our in-person raspberry cane PRUNING DEMONSTRATION WORKSHOP - at no charge - at the Columbus Garden School. (Weekend date TBA in mid-March.) We have 6 different varieties of berries growing on 60 feet of raised beds at CGS. This class is offered on 2 dates. Please register for your desired day/time: Wed.
