Baking with Bernadett: Sourdough 101

Have you never used a sourdough culture? Never kneaded and shaped a bread? Then this class is for YOU! We’ll go through the process step by step. We’ll take a look at what a fully active starter looks like -- because you'll pick up Bernadett's special starter before class. We’ll mix up a dough so you can see how easy it can be. We’ll cover simple shaping techniques. We’ll talk about all the different goodies you can prepare with your starter. Please note that this is a HYBRID class! First, you pick up your sourdough starter at CGS. Then, you follow Bernadett ONLINE as she walks you through the steps in YOUR OWN kitchen. By the end of the class, you’ll have the confidence to bake more wonderful bread with Bernadett’s very resilient sourdough starter! ONLINE class takes place on Zoom on Saturday, March 16, 2024. Sourdough Starter Pickup: PRE-REGISTERED students pick up their dough starter at the Columbus Garden School at the following times: > Friday, May 3rd, between 4 PM - 6:30 PM. (Contact us ASAP if you need a special pickup time.) PRE-REGISTRATION by *11:59 PM on Wednesday, May 1st* is REQUIRED if you want sourdough starter. You can attend the class -- without starter -- by registering up to one hour before class. Please note this is a "live" class and is not recorded. NEW PRICING OPTIONS: Class including fresh sourdough starter = $24 (unchanged since 2020!) Online Zoom class only = $15 (no starter) NOTE: Former sourdough students can join take the Zoom session AGAIN for free! INSTRUCTOR: Bernadett Szabo lives in Pataskala, OH on a small herb, flower, and vegetable farm. She was born in Hungary where she spent summers in her grandmother’s gardens. She follows deep organic practices with some biodynamic principles on her homestead. Her business is Bernadett's Farmacy. The Columbus Garden School is located at 1350 E. Cooke Rd, Columbus OH 43224. We're located between Maize and Karl Roads; look for the split-rail fence and lots of plants (that's us).

Cancellation Policy

For a full refund, please contact us at least 72 hours prior to class to cancel your registration. (Refund policy for materials fee, if applicable, may vary and is included in class description.) In most cases, you can transfer your class enrollment to a friend -- just let us know! Please note, we do NOT record or distribute our online presentations.
