This beautiful maroon-purple Hemerocallis x hybrida is a robust, summer-blooming perennial that deserves a sunny place in your garden! The warm yellow throat is a compliment to other yellow-flowering plants. The maroon-plum-mauve petals provides subtle support to bright nearby colors.
 
All day lilies are darn tough and beautiful in bloom. The foliage for this plant is up to 24"H, and individual flower stems may reach 36"H when mature.
 
Day lilies originated in  Asia. While there are just 16 recognized species of Hemerocallis, the number of cultivars is estimated to be 80-100,000! Yes, they are remarkably easy to cross-breed. Given the enormous variety of colors, be sure to buy your lilies in bloom whenever possible.
 
It is very widely grown as an ornamental plant in temperate climates for its showy flowers and ease of cultivation. It is NOT a true lily in the genus Lilium, but gets its common name from the superficial similarity and from the fact that each flower lasts only one day.
