Do you dream of fresh picked vegetables from your own garden, but don't know where to start? A healthy, productive garden is not as easy as just putting seeds in the ground. In this class, we’ll address the basic planning questions you need to answer before you start to dig. Topics covered in this class: • Optimizing your garden site • Soil preparation • Choosing the right plants to grow • When to start them This is a class for people who are SERIOUS ABOUT SUCCESS with their first vegetable garden. Come with your gardening hopes and dreams. Leave with an action plan to make it happen! PRE-COURSE PREPARATION: Think about the following questions before class: 1. Why are you interested in vegetable gardening? 2. Which edible plants would you like to grow? 3. Once the garden is planted, how much time do you want to spend tending it? (This includes harvesting as well as weeding, watering, and other tasks.) That’s it! Let’s make this the year you become a GREAT gardener! Please note that we're holding the same class on two different dates -- pick the ONE that works best for you! INSTRUCTOR: Jane Onspaugh is the owner of The Edible Garden Helper, and her mission is to get you growing food. She provides individualized, hands-on mentoring in your home garden in Lake County, Ohio or via online consultation. She also teaches gardening classes and helps out at local farms. If you need help growing vegetables, Jane can help! Jane lives in Mentor, Ohio with her husband Steve, where they grow and preserve most of the produce they eat throughout the year.
