In this class, we will delve into the captivating art of needle felting, as we craft a charming gnome perfect for adorning your holiday festivities. Needle felting, with its roots in centuries-old craftsmanship, allows you to sculpt and shape wool into delightful figurines, breathing life into your imaginative creations. Our class will start by exploring the basics of needle felting, making it accessible to both beginners and experienced crafters. We'll discuss the essential supplies and provide everything you need to bring your gnome to life. All you have to do is show up with your enthusiasm for learning and having a great time. By the end of this class, you'll not only take home your very own holiday gnome but also the knowledge and skills to create a wide array of woolen wonders. Come and join us for a fun-filled, uplifting experience where we celebrate the revival of a historical art form and craft something truly special for the holidays! $10 materials + $30 instructional = $40 class fee Materials include: Wool roving, merino wool, felting needle, surface block. Agile students ages 12 and older welcome! All participants need a separate registration. INSTRUCTOR: Jillian Renee is an artist whose primary mediums of expression are watercolor and gouache. Beyond her proficiency with brushes and paints, she also nurtures a deep passion for fiber crafts, including wool art, knitting, and the art of spinning yarn. Jillian owes her deep-rooted love for fiber arts to her grandmothers, who imparted the rich traditions and affection for these crafts. Jillian attended college at the University of Dayton, where she earned a degree in psychology allowing her to diversify her creative skills. She engaged in coursework spanning drawing, sculpture, and ceramics, enhancing the depth of her artistic repertoire. When she's not immersed in her artistic pursuits, you can find Jillian in her garden, experimenting with baking, or discovering the vibrant Columbus community with her partner.
