In the second part of our medicine making workshop, we will demystify vinegar-based preparations and syrups, as well as, alcohol and glycerine extracts/tinctures. No need to rush to the pharmacy to buy products with artificial flavors and colors (why would an adult need a blue cough syrup?!) Many herbs and spices in your kitchen cabinet can be turned into an easy-to-take remedy when you need something ASAP. During the workshop, we’ll create a syrup and an oxymel from Ohio grown herbs and honey for you to take home. Participants will also learn the basics of tincture making so they can confidently create their own preparations tailored to their own needs. $10 materials + $30 instructional = $40 class fee * NOTE: This class is part of our HERBAL MEDICINE-MAKERS SERIES: Although herbal preparations seem magical, there is practical knowledge that goes into creating them. During these hands-on workshops, we will focus on basic but important steps to produce herbal vinegars and oxymels, herbal skin care products, and tinctures. Participants will leave feeling empowered to make their very own herbal products, using ingredients that are safe and healthy for the maker and the environment. * Stay tuned for upcoming workshops! INSTRUCTOR: Bernadett Szabo lives in Pataskala, OH on a small herb, flower and vegetable farm. She was born in Hungary where she spent summers in her grandmother’s gardens.
