  • Starts May 21
  • 25 US dollars
  • East Cooke Road

Spring is a great time to increase your number of colonies. Learn some of the fundamentals and techniques needed to take full advantage of the honey bees natural tendency to swarm and split during the spring. It is strongly suggested that you take the 'Finding the Queen' & 'Re-Queening' classes because those are critical skill for this class. PLEASE NOTE that this is an in-person class taking place at the Columbus Garden School, 1350 E. Cooke Road, Columbus OH 43224. Class size is limited to 10 students, and we'll meet at the classroom / bee hives at the Columbus Garden School (1350 E. Cooke Road, Columbus OH 43224). In light of COVID, face masks are required if we are indoors. INSTRUCTOR: Dave Noble began his professional beekeeping career at OSU's Honey Bee Research Lab in the mid-1990’s. More recently, he spent 7 years as the staff apiarist at Stratford Ecological Center in Delaware, OH. During his tenure there, Dave developed wildly popular beekeeper training programs for both novice and veteran beekeepers. Currently, Dave operates Red Beard Bees where he continues to refine, develop, and teach his beekeeper training programs and presentations across Ohio and the nation. Dave employs a bee-centered philosophy to guide his beekeeping, bee-breeding, and educational endeavors. He believes that a better understanding of bee behavior and bee biology creates better beekeepers. “Listen to the bees and let them guide you.” -- Brother Adam.
