The Beekeeping Basics SERIES is for people with 0-3 years of experience managing hives. Foundational topics include bee biology, colony behavior, and how to effectively and efficiently manage your hives. You’ll also learn how to use beekeeping tools in a variety of situations, and how to help your bees adapt to changing weather and seasons. Consider taking the beginner classes even if you don’t have hives, but want to better understand the preparation and financial commitment required for success. Our Beekeeping Series* includes 3 classes: • Bee Biology and Behavior • Beekeeping Tools and Techniques • Biology-based Bee Management Registering for the Beekeeping Basics Series provides a $15 discount and ensures your seat in all three classes. This is the MOST COMPREHENSIVE PROGRAM taught by a professional beekeeper in Columbus. You will not find more in-depth beekeeping classes anywhere else in Central Ohio. * See individual class descriptions for more details. Registration priority is given to students enrolling in the full series. Bring your beekeeping questions for Q&A! This is an interactive, 90-minute Zoom class. Upon receipt of your class fees, you'll receive additional instructions on how to connect to the class. INSTRUCTOR: Dave Noble began his professional beekeeping career at OSU's Honey Bee Research Lab in the mid-1990’s. More recently, he spent 7 years as the staff apiarist at Stratford Ecological Center in Delaware, OH. During his tenure there, Dave developed wildly popular beekeeper training programs for both novice and veteran beekeepers. Currently, Dave operates Red Beard Bees where he continues to develop, refine, and teach his beekeeper training programs and presentations across Ohio and the nation. Dave employs a bee-centered philosophy to guide his beekeeping, bee-breeding, and educational endeavors. He believes that a better understanding of bee behavior and bee biology creates better beekeepers. “Listen to the bees and let them guide you.” -- Brother Adam
